We wish to urgently recruit highly competent, proactive and self-driven people to fill the following positions within our organization.

Project Manager – Yes Youth Can
1 position based in Kisumu

(Please note that this is a re – advertisement, those who had applied before need not to apply again)

Purpose of the position:
    To provide the technical, operational leadership and management direction needed to successfully promote suitable and sustainable
    Youth Engagement and Empowerment interventions in all Counties in Nyanza

Key Responsibilities:

    Provide effective leadership and establish operational priorities and monitor performance targets for the respective Technical Specialists, Project Officers, and Yes Youth Can proposal and other requirements.
    Direct the successful implementation of the YYC project and supervise project activities and collaboration with target youth groups in the six counties (Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Homa Bay, Kisumu and Siaya) in the Region.
    Impart appropriate mentoring; coaching and supervision in order to equip, motivate and empower the project staff.
    Interact with target youth groups and youth CBOs to obtain feedback, address concerns and resolve issues that may surface during the project implementation.
    Representation with beneficiary youth groups and other stakeholders, donor, government of Kenya officials, private sector, civil society groups, including faith-based groups and youth associations.
    Ensure timely and effective implementation of all project interventions as well as the successful achievement of proposed outcomes and intended impacts.
    Ensure that the project achieves acceptable financial and operational audit results by implementing interventions in accordance with established norm and policies.
    Ensure that all the YYC Project staff development activities, including appraisals, performance agreements, monitoring and needed training and mentoring activities are successfully carried out.
    Ensure the project is responsive to the needs of the youth as relevant to the program goals and objectives.
    Ensure that the project officers are successfully engaging with key internal and external stakeholders, including other WVK entities (Finance, People & Culture), Donor representatives as well as community, government, religious organizations and other civil society representatives especially youth groups and associations in order to maximize the impact of our efforts.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Must have a Master’s university degree in a relevant field from a recognized university.
    Must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience with regards to the designing, planning, and implementation, supervising and reporting on integrated development projects.
    Proven expertise and leadership in youth empowerment and engagement programming
    They should have at least 5 years in a management level position.
    Experience in livelihoods development programming.
    Knowledge of USAID funded projects regulations and requirements.
    Must be a results-oriented leader who is able to handle a heavy workload, as well as be accountable and responsive to the donor and project stakeholders.

Project Officer - Disability
2 positions based in Wema & Mashuru

Purpose of the position:
To provide expertise of all Disability Ministry functions within World Vision Kenya in an effort to pursue transformational development and assist to develop disability strategic guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
    Develop Disability Mainstreaming Strategic implementation guidelines that will inform and guide mainstreaming of disability at organizational, program and project levels.
    Support DME in assessment and designing programs for addressing disability as well as monitoring implementation of disability strategies within the WVK programming.
    Submit required program reports and share national and international policies for disability mainstreaming.
    Develop advocacy initiatives that ensure respect for and protection of persons with disabilities’ rights.
    Monitor & report on contribution of disability mainstreaming interventions towards child well-being targets.
    Provide formal training to staff, partners and the local community to promote awareness, sensitivity, and knowledge regarding access for disabled individuals.
    Support Program Officer in mentoring of Disability Focal Point Persons for increased disability mainstreaming.
    Strengthen Disability Initiatives/mainstreaming in targeted ADPs & special projects through provision of technical support through guidelines, protocols and review of ADP designs and implementation plans.
    Provides technical support to staff, partners and the local community to respond to new and emerging issues on disability including integration of other cross cutting themes into disability programming.
    Review reports, AOPs, ToRs and Data collection tools to ensure appropriate disability mainstreaming in the targeted ADPs.
    Provide technical support for start of new programs and in the sharing/documenting of best practices on disability mainstreaming.
    Networking with disability agencies and other community organizations providing services to persons with disabilities.
    Participate in development of national policies and strategies to influence persons with disabilities access.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Bachelor’s degree in Community Based Rehabilitation, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Gender with ample DME and community development experience.
    Knowledge of Human Rights and specifically persons with disability and Social Justice Issues and gender equity.
    Four years’ experience in the field with International NGOs, preferably in working with children with designated disabilities and program coordination of donor funded disability projects.
    Proven track record as a staff and community trainer and capacity builder in disability mainstreaming using a wide variety of training methods, facilitation and capacity building strategies, and organizational development.
    Knowledge of community resources for people with disabilities.
    Good engagement, research and report writing skills.

Project Officer – Livestock Development & Marketing
1 position based in Garbatulla

Purpose of the position:
    The job holder in collaboration with the program manager, project officers, ILRI project staff and MoLD staff in the Garbatulla Pastoralist
    Livelihood Improvement Project (GAPLIP) will be required to implement all the Index Based Livestock Insurance (IBLI) activities stipulated in GAPLIP project proposal, DIP and budget.

Key Responsibilities:
    Promote increased risk management of drought related livestock losses through index based livestock insurance
    Put in place Early Warning systems on drought and related losses.
    Capacity building of World Vision Kenya staff on index based livestock insurance(IBLI)
    Ensure that Institutions, policies and capacities (regulation, information dissemination, marketing, extension, etc.) necessary to provide sustainable IBLI services across the Isiolo county are developed and in place.
    Sensitization of Stakeholders for all pastoralists targeted by GAPLIP.
    Develop of functional livestock marketing systems.
    Ensure Commercialization and Market Development for Livestock and their products in Garba Tulla in partnership with Farmer Concern International.
    Facilitate market opportunities awareness forums on livestock, their products and other identified opportunities
    To plan, implement, monitor and document all the extension activities within the area of operation as per the proposal.
    Provide necessary livestock related training, follow-up, support and guidance to the Pastoralist, youth and women groups under GAPLIP.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    Must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields (Veterinary Medicine, Livestock production, and livestock marketing). In addition a master of business administration or marketing will be an added advantage.
    At least two year experience as a Livestock Extension staff or involvement in insurance.
    Experience working with NGOs and Knowledge of the local language (Borana) will be preferred.
    Must have a good understanding of the different systems of extension delivery and marketing.
    Knowledge in livestock insurance will be an advantage.
