World Concern Driver/Mechanic Job in Lamu, Kenya

Position: Driver/Mechanic
County: Lamu-With frequent visits to the field
Reports To: Project Manager
Supervises: None
Length of Contract: One year
Purpose
Responsible for organizing adequate, efficient and safe transport for the field based personnel and goods including maintaining and repairing of WC vehicles on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
Perform daily checks on the vehicles before and after any travels and also perform scheduled vehicle service
Maintain and repair different World Concern engine powered machines
Report to the supervisor any vehicle repair needs and ensure that repairs are appropriately done
Run errands for project operations as required by the staff
Responsible for the co-ordination and compilation of vehicle maintenance reports, ensuring these are submitted in a consistent and timely manner.
Drive the assigned vehicles within the laws of Kenya and in a safe manner
Transport project staff to required destinations as directed by Supervisor within the project boundaries.
Report all accidents however trivial to the supervisor
Maintain records of vehicle mileage and cleanliness of the vehicle
Report to the project base – vehicle movement to and from assigned locations
Exhibit good stewardship of all other resources that may be under your care.
Perform any other activities that may legitimately fall within the confines of the program
Qualifications, Experience, Attributes & Skills required
Demonstrable driving experience and Mechanical background a must with valid certifications and a valid driving license.
At least 3 years of driving and mechanic experience
Certificate of good conduct
Good communication skills, positive, flexible and responsible attitude.
Radio communication skills
Previous field experience shall be an added advantage.
High sense of responsibility and reliability
Previous experience in a similar role with other organizations desirable
Working Conditions/ Environment
Extensive travel within the project area and other World Concern project sites
Multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment
There may be long periods of working hours requiring flexibility
