Vacancy Announcement - Leadership and Strategic Planning Advisor
Save the Children East Africa Regional Office (EARO) is looking to recruit a Leadership and Strategic Planning Advisor.
Role Purpose:
To lead on the development and implementation of support packages focused at improving leadership of country programmes.
This will be done through a mixture of facilitated trainings and workshops, coaching, mentoring and deployments with more specific terms of reference.
Key Areas of Accountability:
Work with the Programme Operations Capacity Building team to provide support for the Capacity improvement of Country Programmes with a focus of leadership.
Working with Country Management team (SMT/ESMT) to improve programme delivery, through guided discussions and action planning.
Support will include provide strategic direction to country management teams and supporting key planning processes
To develop the “Working Better Together” (WBT) leadership programme to facilitate roll out to country programmes as requested
To build the capacity of other members of the Programme Operations Capacity Building Team to be able to lead WBT
Provide change management support to country programmes
Leading on the provision of one to one coaching to key operational staff – predominantly SMT members but on occasion field managers, area managers, provincial managers
Work with the Humanitarian and Leadership Academy within the current East Africa capacity building hub, key stakeholders within the region and the Global Academy Office to develop the business plan and strategy development if required.
Qualifications and Experience:
Post graduate qualification in change management or similar.
Coaching qualification, desirable
International experience of senior operations management in insecure/humanitarian context for an INGO/IO
Proven analytical and strategic planning skills
Excellent representational advocacy and diplomatic skills to enable the post-holder to operate effectively internally and externally
Substantial experience of capacity building and training in an INGO, ideally both at HQ
Strong coaching and mentoring skills
Substantial facilitation skills – both for formal classroom based learning and also more informal learning through discussions and workshops
Knowledge of adult learning theory
Extensive knowledge of operational delivery
