National assembly MPs want an increase in their salaries, as

However, in an address to parliament, President Uhuru
Kenyatta stressed that the current wage bill- which constitutes a third of the
budget, and about 12 percent of the GDP, is unsustainable, and his government
would not like to increase it further, a move that was interpreted to mean that
his government will not be consenting to an increase in public servants
salaries anytime soon. If the government is to increase salaries, then services
for other projects, such as the laptops and other infrastructural projects,
will likely be shelved.
