Coordinator, Global Compact Network


Summary
The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) – the representative organization for manufacturing value-add Industries in Kenya. KAM provides an essential link for co-operation, dialogue and understanding with the Government by representing the views and concerns of its members to the
relevant authorities.

Job Purpose: To promote ethical, responsible and sustainable business practices and activities throughout the Global Compact Network and other platforms through coordinated and strategic valuable engagements with the business community, partners and other stakeholders. This position reports to the Head – Membership Development Unit.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Serve as a  local contact for the Global Compact, Kenya Network;
•    Serve as a liaison between Local Network and Global Compact Office in New York
•    Coordinate stakeholder and steering committee meetings for the GCNK;
•    Recruit organizations into the Global Compact, Code of ethics and any other sustainability initiatives;
•    Coordinate membership administration including follow up of companies for submitting annual Communication on Progress (CoPs), conducting Needs Assessment surveys and Annual General meetings for the network;
•    Plan and execute resource mobilization strategies for Global Compact initiatives
•    Prepare project reports and maintain other relevant records;
•    Organize and coordinate participation and learning, outreach, Joint Action/dialogue forums on Strategic CSR, Labour and human rights issues, Environmental Management, Anti-corruption strategies, mentorship workshops, Communication/reporting on implementation of the principles etc;
•    Develop and publish publicity material for the network including brochures, best practice publications and newsletters;
•    Develop and maintain an up-to-date website for the network;
•    Represent the association/network in relevant external meetings and committees;
•    Represent local network in regional and international meetings;

Requirements / Qualifications
•    Bachelors Degree in either social sciences, humanities or other relevant degree (Environmental Studies, Human Resource, Project management);
•    Three (3) years relevant experience in a business environment and/or involvement in CSR, sustainability and project management;
•    Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills;
•    Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies;
•    Strong leadership skills and a team player;
•    Customer relationship management skills;
