Research Careers In Kenya
The International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) Kenya is a Research and Training institution dedicated to peace support capacity building to respond to conflicts through preventive, management and peace building measures. The IPSTC is a regional Centre of Excellence with a strategic focus on Eastern Africa.
In order to enhance its regional capacities, with the support of the UNDP and Japan, IPSTC is currently recruiting two researchers from Kenya.
Reporting directly to IPSTC’s Head of the Peace and Security Research Department, the successful candidates will conduct research and produce papers to support and inform the Centre’s activities including the design of training programmes.
Key duties and tasks will be to:
• Produce and present demand-driven research papers;
• Conduct background research and update country profiles in Eastern Africa with focus on issues related to regional conflict prevention;
• Provide contributions on request to regional conflict alert system;
• Assist in the design and delivery of training related to conflict prevention, conflict management and

• Provide inputs for training related to peace operations at tactical, operational and strategic level education;
• Liaise with other relevant institutions and organizations in order to increase conflict prevention capacity in Eastern Africa and also widen IPSTC’s network of experts.
Requirements
• To hold a Masters or PhD degree in International Studies/Relations, Conflict Management/Prevention, Curriculum Design or related areas;
• To have at least 5 years research – preferably in the areas of conflict prevention, conflict management and post conflict peace building – and training experience;
• To demonstrate the ability to work in a multi-tasking environment, to plan and prioritize activities, with a result-oriented approach;
• Demonstrate professionalism, commitment to quality performance, and result-oriented work;
• Display sensitivity and adaptability to cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age diversity.

Employment will be on a seven months contract with a possibility of extension depending on performance and funding. Salary: Kshs – 187,524 gross per month.
