Base Titanium Limited Mine Planning Engineer Job.

Base Titanium Limited Mine Planning Engineer, Tails Planning Engineer and Senior Mine Surveyor Jobs in Kenya.
Base Titanium Limited, the Kenyan subsidiary of the Australian company Base Resources Limited, is developing the Kwale Mineral Sands Project approximately 50km south of Mombasa. 

Production is scheduled to start during the second half of 2013.

Mine Planning Engineer 

Ref: HRTS1/13
 
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this multi-disciplinary role will see the incumbent responsible for all Mine Planning activities at the Kwale mine.
 
Duties Include:
  • Mentoring Graduate / Junior Mining Engineers.
  • Coordination and management of short and medium term mine planning.
  • Design and development of performance improvement projects.
  • Liaison between Processing, Mining and Technical Services Departments.
  • Ensuring all quality control of mine design plans and processes are maintained.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ open pit mine planning and mining experience.
  • A good working knowledge of mineral processing.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • An excellent working knowledge of mine planning software is essential.
  • Surpac experience would be highly advantageous.
Tails Planning Engineer

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role will see the incumbent responsible for the quality aspects of the ongoing construction of the Kwale Tailings Storage Facility (TSF).

Day to day activities will involve liaison with day services personnel to ensure tailing dam walls are constructed in accordance with specifications.

Duties Include:
  • Ensure the TSF is operated within the guidelines of the TSF Operating Manual.
  • Monitor the constructed walls for conformance with volumetric design.
  • Monitor and remediate as required all aspects of tailing dam wall construction and tailings deposition.
  • Maintain volumetric records, review the wall building schedules and ensure adequate tailing capacity is maintained.
  • Monitor and maintain records of all TSF operating parameters.
  • Maintain a current rehabilitation plan for the TSF.
Requirements:
  • A bachelors’ degree in Mining or Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience Open Pit Mine Planning and Mining experience.
  • A good working knowledge of Mineral Processing.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Senior Mine Surveyor 

Ref: HRTS3/13
 
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for all surveying activities at the Kwale mine site.

Duties Include:
  • Pit floor control.
  • Mining set outs.
  • Period end surveys and reporting.
  • Stockpile measurements.
  • Layout and monitor pit wall batters.
  • Assist with the design of pit dewatering requirements.
  • Issue excavation permits.
  • Maintain site infrastructure database.
  • Train junior surveyors.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Surveying.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in surveying.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Sound experience with mine planning software is required.
  • Knowledge of Surpac is essential.
