Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, the Logistics Officer will manage the delivery of a reliable and consistent clearing and forwarding service for all imports and exports supporting the Tullow Kenya Drilling and Seismic Operations.  You will apply your expertise and creativity in finding the best ways of interacting with Kenya Government agencies, Tullow Mombasa and Clearing and Forwarding Agents to overcome obstacles and implement documented solutions effectively.

Key Objectives/ Responsibilities:

•    Manage the process and records for all Imports and Exports for Air, Sea and Road movements.  Implementing high standard shipping documents that focus on detail, standards, priorities, service options and requirements considering International transport, clearing and forwarding and legislation.
•    Ensure a register is maintained for all material arriving in country by Sea, Air and Road and illustrates condition of Import (Bond  or Exemption)
•    Manage the Kenyan and International Clearing & Forwarding Contractors to ensure that all consignments are processed as quickly as possible
•    Supervise the preparation of exemption request letters for submission to MoE / MoF and manage them through to point of receipt.
•    Maintain a register of all applications to MoE / MoF and record the dates of application and date of return.
•    Provide copies of exemption letters returned from MoE / MoF to Clearing and Forwarding agents as soon as possible.
•    Manage all issues related to clearing & forwarding.
•    Plan and attend meetings with the Well Engineering and Operations teams as required to ensure urgent requirements are dealt with efficiently.
•    Provide support to project teams for movement of project materials between international locations and Kenya.
•    Obtains quotes for shipping of goods and manages all invoices related to clearing and forwarding work.
•    Assist in permit and exemption processing, transfers and permissions / licenses for explosives, radioactive and other sensitive materials.
•    Bond / Container Management – Supervise Freight Forwarding / Customs Clearance agents Bond and Container Tracker through life cycle
•    Ensure all import/export transactions of materials are accurately documented, including to and from Port / Site / Field locations and documentation is submitted accurately and in a timely manner.
•    Regular communication with freight forwarding agents, transportation contractors, freight forwarders and Tullow operational locations.

Education and requirements
•    Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Logistics or its equivalent and a minimum 5- 10 Years experience with extensive background in clearing & forwarding of Oilfield or other heavy equipment in/out of Kenya.
•    Technical knowledge or background in oilfield operations and a desire to learn more via internal and external training.
•    Technical training on IMDG, IATA Dangerous Goods Handling.
•    Good communicator; aware of the EHS policies and procedures in all aspects of Supply Chain
•    Effective computer experience including Microsoft Office suite.
