Job Purpose
About the Addressing Gender Based Violence in Kibera project
This project aims to increase access to justice and integrated support to the survivors of violence in

Kibera, an informal settlement in Nairobi. The project draws service providers together into a holistic support structure under a ‘one stop’ platform, while increasing awareness on Gender Based Violence
(GBV). The project institutionalises a culture of respect for women’s human rights and mitigates and responds to cases through community sensitisation and the provision of legal aid.

Key roles and responsibilities
1.    Overall Management and team leader of the GBV outreach Office in Kibera.
2.    Conceptualization, design, and implementation of the Addressing Gender Based Violence in Kibera program;
3.    Providing oversight for the project team as they work on the programs objectives, goals, reporting requirements and work plans;
4.    Manage five Case Managers, assigning tasks as necessary, overseeing their duties, work plans and activities and work roles ;
5.    Building of strategic relationships with GBV partners under the one stop platform in Kibera
6.    Organizing and coordinating community activities, including forums, dialogue meeting, school outreach programs at the community level in consultations with the community educators/paralegals;
7.    Coordination of research under the community empowerment program;
8.    Respond to all reporting requirements - write and co-ordinate timely and regular reporting on the project implementation to the immediate supervisor and development partners and other stakeholders;.
9.    Preparing and compiling monthly progress report on the projects being implemented and eventually preparing the final project reports.
10.    Develop all necessary documentation as applicable to the program including program plan, budget and partnerships, activities or concept notes to proposal development and work plans;
11.    With assistance from other CREAW staff members, build and maintain expertise about gender based violence in Kibera and the many organisations and constituencies engaged in the movement, including the network of key thinkers, advocates, organizations and the principal strategies;
12.    Attend appropriate outside meetings, conferences and briefings to represent CREAW and to inform and educate funders and the general public about gender based violence in Kenya
13.    Initiating and developing project proposals tailored to CREAWs strategic objectives and goals;
14.    Monitoring and evaluating plans and projects to ensure effective implementation; and
15.    Any other duty to propel the organization.

Academic qualifications, experiences, skills and personal attributes
o    Must have a Bachelors degree in Social Science or closely related  field, other qualification in sexual and gender based violence program management would be desirable.
o    Masters qualifications in Social Sciences or related field will be an absolute advantage.
o    Demonstrable project management and/or team leading experience
o    Have at least three years of relevant working experiences in a non-governmental organization dealing with women’s rights issues, and in particular sexual and gender based violence eradication and support structures for survivors.
o    Technical training in project management and proposal development
o    Strong writing/editing skills and language capability in both Kiswahili and English.
o    Visionary, with strong initiative and ability to work without supervision.
o    Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills.
o    Personal commitment to work as reliable, honest and trustworthy team member.
o    Good judgement, tact, analytical and negotiation skills.
o    Strong computer (word processing) literacy and able to use Microsoft Office suite of programs.
o    Must be able to work comfortably and effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds and to establish and maintain constructive working relations in multi –cultural environment.
