Strategic Communications and Outreach Specialist, Local Government and Decentralization Project
Project / Proposal Summary:
MSI is looking for a Strategic Communications and Outreach Specialist for an upcoming United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded decentralization program in Kenya.
The project will assist in implementing a recently adopted decentralization process.
Position Summary:
The Strategic Communications and Outreach Specialist will be responsible for designing and implementing a strategic communications plan for the project including (but not limited to) handling reports, press releases, newsletters, and other marketing materials.

Responsibilities:
Work with the Chief of Party to develop, implement and evaluate communication strategies and outreach efforts to increase awareness of Kenya’s devolution process and roles and responsibilities.
Develop activities with civil society and county government counterparts directed to raise public awareness through the production of information, communication, and educational materials.
Design and implement innovative communications materials, including use of ICT and mobile phone technology.
Responsible for project communications; work with the M&E officer to maintain and disseminate information about the work of the project, including activities, success stories, results, etc.
Qualifications:
Bachelors’ degree on a related field is required.
Experience designing communications and outreach strategies required.
Experience writing reports, press releases, newsletters, etc.
Experience working with local media and advocacy groups.
Knowledge of devolution issues preferred.
Experience with USAID preferred.
Fluency in English is required.
