Project Manager FMCG
Job Summary
Our client is a leading multinational research-based pharmaceutical company devoted to discovering and developing new and innovative medicines, vaccines and health care products.
Reporting to the General Manager-African Nutrition Ventures, the Project Manger position is responsible for providing project management expertise and support to ensure delivery of a portfolio of nutrition products for Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP) consumers in Kenya and subsequently sub-Saharan Africa.
The individual will co-ordinate the activities of a multifunctional team of senior managers across a number of geographies that’s been tasked with developing fortified nutrition products for low-income consumers through a pilot that will first be launched in Kenya before being rolled out to other sub-Saharan countries.
Key Responsibilities
• Works closely with the GM to ensure that the overall project objectives are aligned with global objectives.
• Ensures project’s overall objectives are understood by all team members & stakeholders and that they understand their individual responsibilities.
• Assists the project team to embed best practice ways of working.
• Prepares & executes project work plans & revises as appropriate to meet changing needs & requirements.
• Organizes & facilitates project meetings effectively and ensures closure of agreed actions.
• Monitors project performance against all the agreed plan parameters.
• Manages project documents ensuring they are complete, current and stored appropriately.
• Effectively communicates relevant project information to stakeholders.
• Identifies project risks and plans for their mitigation.
• Resolves and escalates issues in a timely fashion.
• Ensures project complies with internal standards & policies.
Qualifications
• Bachelors degree in Business Administration or a related field from a recognized university.
• 3-5 years project management experience in Commercial, R&D or Supply Chain.
• If the above experience was in the FMCG industry, it would be an added advantage.
• Experience with cross cultural/regional projects or globally run businesses.
• Demonstrated ability to influence, deliver work programmes in a matrix environment, manage stakeholder interests and provide project solutions.
• Deep understanding of the principles, processes and tools of project management. Evidence of this is required as this is most critical.
• Fairly good knowledge of the process involved in developing and launching a new product.
• Ability to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders across functions / departments, regions, externally and internally to deliver the project’s objectives.
• Ability to make decisions and tackle challenges in a complex and rapidly evolving environment.
