The Research Care and Training Program (RCTP) is a collaboration between the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and University of
Washington (UW).
RCTP leads the Family AIDS Care and Education Services (FACES) program, a comprehensive HIV prevention and Treatment program working in over 100 clinics in Nyanza, Kenya RCTP is seeking motivated individuals to fill the following vacancies in Male Engagement in women’s Use of Microbicides (MEM) study
Job Title: Study Coordinator - 1 Position
Reports to: The Study Manager
Duty Station: Kisumu
Duration: Six Months
Key Requirements:
Minimum of Diploma in social sciences, Public Health, Statistics or related field from a recognized university (Degree is preferred)
At least 2 years experience in a similar position for Diploma holders and at least 1 year experience for Degree holders.
Must be computer literate. Able to monitor, gather and evaluate information of broad scope and complexity
Have significant research management(public health or clinical studies) experience with superb leadership and communications skills
Familiar with qualitative research methods, including in-depth interviewing and focus group discussions
Able to provide daily direction to study staff in a dynamic environment
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and communicate with multi-disciplinary teams
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent computer skills
Job Title: Field Workers - 5 Positions
Reports to: MEM Study Coordinator
Duty Station: Kisumu
Duration: Three Months
Job Summary:
The Field workers will work closely with other project staff to mobilize participants for the study and trace study participants in the community.
Key Requirements:
Form Four /O level pass with a minimum C-(minus) grade and at least a Certificate in Community Health, Social Work or relevant field.
At least one year experience in Community Health Work, experience within a health research desired. Ability to transcribe recorded qualitative interviews is an added advantage.
Must be culturally adept, pro-active and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrable computer literacy an added advantage.
Job Title: Interviewers - 5 Positions
Reports to: MEM Study Coordinator
Duty Station: Kisumu
Duration: Three Months
Job Summary:
The incumbent will be in charge of recruiting participants and conducting qualitative interviews in selected locations
Key Requirements:
Higher Diploma or Degree in social science.
At least three years experience in qualitative (open-ended, in-depth) research and able to conduct and transcribe qualitative interviews. Experience can be with individual interviewing or focus groups.
Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills; be friendly and able to engage study participants in in-depth discussions.
Experience in research and knowledge of the local languages of Nyanza/Western province will be added advantage.
Demonstrable computer skills in MS word are also an added advantage.
