Job Functions
Range of Responsibility:
Quotations/Winning Proposals
Providing quotations to brokers/direct clients and doing quotations follow up
Setting up new/business/loading scheme members into the membership and Claims syste
Process new policies and set up new accounts within set company standards and turn around times.
Involves registering member data in the system to facilitate processing of claims.Issuing endorsements, Additions and deletions
• Endorse policies as instructed by clients and intermediaries
• Process additions and deletions to the policies within set turnaround times and forward details to claims system as well as to providers
• Ensure endorsements and membership cards are issued correctly and on time
Renewal and performance Review.
This is done before the end of every Insurance period to determine the
renewal terms for a specific policy for the next Insurance period. It
may also be done midterm/periodically for policies that require
monitoring.
The end of Insurance year review is done two months
before renewal date. The jobholder should ensure that the review is done
on time i.e. before renewal date and must consult with the team leader
before issuing terms.
The jobholder should give a proposal for the required renewal terms.
Ensure that business retention is optimized and that in all cases the
prescribed retention ratio is observed, attending prearranged meeting
for business prospecting and service to existing clients.
Achieve 95% renewal retention.
Accounts reconciliation
• Involves comparing the debits/credits raised by the broker and insurer. The purpose is to ensure that both parties agree on the premiums raised and to have balanced accounts.

Maintain good working relationships with brokers/agents/direct clients and other intermediaries.
Credit Control
• Involves collection of premiums due from brokers, agents and direct clients as stipulated in the APA Credit policy.
• Ensures collection of premiums as per the cash and carry rule and report weekly on the status
Relationship management with brokers/agents
Job holder must maintain a calendar of visits to brokers and clients.
The purpose for this is to:
Source for new business
Service the accounts through the intermediaries
Develop and maintain a good working relationship
Collect premium
Collect and act on customer complaints and feedback
Marketing
Co-ordinate product development processes
Co-ordinate consumer research activities
Develop and maintain competitor analysis
Presentations to clients on details of our product
Establish and maintain appropriate systems for preparing market intelligence statistics and reports on target business to facilitate development of strategies to give the company a competitive edge.
Minimum Qualifications
At least 2-3 year’s experience in insurance/underwriting-Health is desirable.
A Diploma in Insurance or CII qualification is essential,
University degree will be an added advantage,
Good interpersonal skills, excellent communications and analytical skills.
Well developed computer skills.
