Former President Mwai Kibaki has been named the most inspirational Kenyan, according to a survey by Consumer Insight. In the 'Maisha Study', respondents placed him above any living Kenyan. One in every 50 Kenyans consider his achievements and value systems as a source of inspiration. He was however behind US President Obama at 6.8 percent, Nelson Mandela at 4.8 percent. Mr. Kibaki ranked above
uncles, pastors and local leaders. According to the Kenya Private sector Alliance (KEPSA), his era saw the greatest growth in the NSE, and a renewed activity from Kenya's business community. He also oversaw the enactment of a new constitution in 2010. Kibaki came to power in a multi-ethnic coalition in 2002, but was unable to prevent the 2007/08 post election violence, something that many historians say could stain his legacy.
