It’s just a few days to the highly fancied World cup
qualifying match with Nigeria.
We look at the fortunes of some of the former Harambee Stars players, who
played a key role in the famous 1-1 draw with the Nigeria Super Eagles in 1997.
The team then was coached by the late German tactician Reinhardt Fabisch.
Ken Simiyu- now deceased, scored for Kenya,
with Jonathan Akpoborie equalizing for Nigeria in the 50th minute.
Francis Onyiso- Goalkeeper.
After that stunning performance against Nigeria, Onyiso played for a long
time for Ulinzi Stars and the national team before retiring. He is currently
working as a goalkeeper trainer for the army side. Furthermore, he is a driver
in the Kenya Defence Force (KDF), where he holds the rank of sergeant in the
Kenyan military.
