Director, Legal Affairs and Enforcement
The Director, Legal Affairs will report to the Secretary of the Commission and will be responsible for the provision of leadership and advice on all legal matters.
Specifically, the director will be responsible for:
Developing appropriate legal and institutional frameworks for the implementation of the mandate of the Commission.
Coordinating litigation or court cases for the Commission.
Overseeing drafting of legal opinions and other relevant legal documents for the Commission;
Undertaking legal transactions including recovery, conveyance, agreements, leases and partnerships.
Developing and reviewing legal instruments for the Commission.
Reviewing existing laws and regulations relevant to the execution of the mandate of the Commission.
Coordinating enforcement of legal decisions and court orders for the Commission.
Performing any other duties as may from time to time be assigned by the Secretary.
Conducting relevant Legal research for the Commission.
Advising on all Legal matters related to staff discipline.
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication that meet the requirements of chapter 6 of the Kenya Constitution.
Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Competencies and Experience:
For appointment to this position, a candidate must:
Have at least a Master’s Degree in Law from a recognized university in Kenya.
Be an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a current practicing certificate.
Have at least eight (10) years’ practicing experience in public/private sector or in a busy firm/organization, with at least 4 years in a senior position
Possess at least 5 years experience in litigation.
Experience in Alternative Dispute resolution will be an added advantage
Demonstrated leadership skills and a team player.
Computer literacy
