Organisation: Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Luxembourg are non-governmental aid agencies and members of Caritas Internationalis. Caritas works worldwide and adheres to international humanitarian principles (NGO Code of Conduct). Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Luxembourg act in the frame of a MoU as a consortium in the Eastern Africa and the Horn of Africa.
They operate a joint Office in Nairobi; have Country Offices in Somaliland (Hargeisa) and South
Sudan (Torit) and a Representative in Ethiopia (Addis Ababa).
Position: Consultancy – WASH Technical Advisor, Marsabit
Reporting to: Humanitarian Delegate
Location: Marsabit, Kenya
Start: June 2013
Duration: 11 working days per month for 11 months
Tasks & expected outcomes
On-site support and accompaniment of one Drought Recovery Project (WASH) in Marsabit, North Eastern Province, Kenya
Competencies
The Consultant must have the following professional qualifications and experiences:
Advanced University degree in water engineering or civil engineering;
At least six years of proven professional work experience with hard ware and software components of WASH with a international non-governmental organisation, including fieldwork experience both in Kenya or its neighbouring countries and beyond the African continent;
Experience in monitoring and evaluation of WASH projects;
Proven track record in working with partners;
Experience in participatory methodologies;
Experience with training and capacity building;
Experience in working with pastoral communities;
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
Highly motivated; and
Flexibility, good interpersonal and networking skills, ability to work in multi-cultural environment and sensitivity to cultural values.
