Assistant Editor- Creative Works and Trade Books

Job Purpose
The Assistant Editor will work with the English Editor to manage and develop book projects in this subject area, in line with the agreed departmental and company’s objectives.
Key responsibilities
Assess manuscripts in the area of literary works and children’s literature.
Write comprehensive evaluation reports.
Develop novels, novellas, children books and general books that reflect the changing literary needs to cater for different audiences.
Provide succinctly written information for marketing and launching of the products.
Edit and proofread to ensure products are error- free and conform to the agreed house style.
Liaise with editors and designers to meet expected schedules.
Develop marketing and promotional material in liaison with the Business Development Department.
Qualification/Competencies
Bachelor of Education degree - English and Literature
2 year teaching experience or 2 year editing
Certificate in communication will be an added advantage
A high level of creativity and innovation
A flair for creative/literary works
Excellent writing and communication skills, computer literacy, strong organisation skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Working knowledge of e.learning needs and processes will be mandatory.
