Job Description
The job holder will be responsible to the Board Audit and Risk Committee and report to Managing Director on audit issues.
The job holder will coordinate risk management activities including i.e. ensuring that there is adherence to policies, procedures and standards of the company’s financial and physical resources for improved performance and corporate governance.
Specific duties and responsibilities will entail:
preparing and executing a risk based audit plan for the organisation based on the significant risks identified in the company’s risk management framework;
ascertaining the effectiveness’ of the company’s internal control framework in managing organizational risks by carrying out risk based process audits;
supporting and coordinating the Risk Management framework by facilitating risk management activities such as risk identification assessment and educating staff on risk management and internal controls;
facilitating the documentation of the company’s processes and the testing of internal controls in line with ISO9001; 2008 Quality Management System (QMS);
preparing periodic reports on the implementation of internal controls and external audit recommendations and assist management in achieving the implementation/ completion benchmark set by the Board Audit and Risk committee.
preparing periodic reports for the Audit and Risk committee;
taking notes and prepare minutes of meetings of the Audit and Risk committee;
carrying out investigations as may be required by the Board or management;
conducting performance appraisals in line with the company policy;
planning and organising internal audits and coordinating external audit; and
Preparing timely and accurate audit reports for Risk Management Committee.
Job Specifications
For appointment to this position, a candidate must have:
Proven work experience of at least eight (4) years in auditing related field three (2) of which will be at middle management level in a strategic organization;
Bachelors degree in Commerce auditing or accounting option, Finance or any other relevant field of study from a recognized institution;
Possession of at least CPA (K) ACCA;
Certified Information Systems Auditor;
