Job Title: Dairy Technologist / Quality Control
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade of C+ in Kenya Certificate of Education
Certificate in Dairy Technology or equivalent
Reporting to: Plant manager
Tasks:
Quality Control:
To ensure that all milk received and sold by the plant satisfies the pre-scribed quality requirements of the Dairy Plant and its customers.
He/she will ensure that the appropriate tests on milk, water, chemical reagents etc are carried out and recorded.
He/she will take note of the farmers whose milk has been rejected and advise the Manager with the view to offering technical assistance to concerned farmers where necessary.
He/she will be responsible for documenting the quality and quantity of milk received and sold according to
prescribed formats as they may be revised from time to

Supervision:
To supervise and co-ordinate work and staff in the section and staff from any other section assigned duties in his/her section. He will report any cases of misconduct to the Manager.
To train and ensure that all people handling milk and anything that comes into contact with milk is done within acceptable standards.
Assist and relieve graders and milk dispatch staff.
Operations:
To liaise with the Manager and other section heads to ensure team work and overall smooth running of the plant. This includes improving operations to increase quality and efficiency.
To ensure proper handling of plant machinery in accordance with the defined operation and maintenance procedures. He/she will advise the Manager of any machinery breakdown and due dates for maintenance.
To assist the Manager in ordering and pursuing orders with plant input suppliers, seeking explanation from Power Company in the event problems arise, etc.
To receive, store and ensure adequate monitoring of the supplies for production e.g. filters and chemicals. He/she must ensure supplies are replenished in good time.
To be directly responsible for supervising the cleanliness of the laboratory, plant area, equipment and machinery.
To carry out other duties that from time to time may be requested by the Manager or the Board of Directors
