Ordinarily, a matatu is supposed to transport you, nothing
else. However, a matatu plying the city centre, Langata, Rongai route has been
pimped up. It has Wi-fi, where passengers can browse for free. The owner of the
‘makmende’ matatu, Vincent Swale, says he has been able to get more revenues as
a result,
with less hustle to the driver and the conductor, as they meet their
targets in time. Safaricom funded him to install the Wi-fi wireless network.
