Recoveries Officer

Overall Purpose

The position is responsible for the collection and management of the non performing asset portfolio of the Bank

Key Responsibilities
    Make contact with defaulting Customers either by calling or visiting them with an aim of negotiating settlement of arrears.
    Issuing demand letters to Customers who have fallen into arrears
    Work closely with legal department in the issuance of Statutory notices
    Work closely with branches and Relationship Managers on their Bad debt portfolio
    Ensure the loan book is properly graded
    Meet set Collections and Recoveries targets
    Make provisions for Bad debts in line with CBK prudential guidelines and the Bank’s credit policy
    Prepare monthly reports to the Management on the Bad debt portfolio and make recommendations for write offs, restructures and full and final settlements
    Liaise with Lawyers, Auctioneers, Debt Collectors and Private Investigators on cases referred to them and handle any day to day correspondence.
    Prepare documentary evidence and where necessary attend court to give evidence on behalf of the Bank when called upon to do so
    Maintain all credit files and documents to ensure easy retrieval and safe custody.

Qualifications and competencies
    A Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking or other related subject.
    5 years relevant working experience in debt recovery in a Bank or Financial Institution.
    Knowledge of debt recovery and realization process
    Good organizational and administrative skills.
    Good analytical skills.
    Strong negotiation skills

Manager, Central Processing

Overall Purpose

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the position is responsible for managing an effective and efficient central processing department that should lead to higher profitability and prudent cost management in line with the Operations strategy.

Key Responsibilities
    Build, develop and motivate a high performing team capable of delivering business results.
    Drive a performance management culture that will deliver the agreed individual objectives and goals in alignment with the Operations strategy.
    Achieve financial targets set on non-funded income through robust revenue collection initiatives and control mechanisms.
    Develop and maintain KYC monitoring process to ensure full compliance with Central Bank of Kenya prudential guidelines.
    Provide operational support to the branch network in line with set service level agreements to achieve exceptional customer service standards.
    Develop and maintain procedures on cards and central processing to support the business and to meet customer service requirements.
    Liaise with various service providers to ensure maintenance of the set standard service level agreements at the most cost effective price.
    Review all daily and monthly reconciliation reports to ensure any issues are addressed appropriately to minimize operational losses.
    Develop plans on minimizing frauds and create awareness on prevention/detection to the staff in operations.
    Develop an effective archiving system and ensure adherence to the relevant laws.
    Ensure all regulatory reports/returns are done in time to minimize losses or penalties for non-compliance.
    Develop customer complaints handling procedures and ensure closures.
    Ensure clearing settlement industry standards are maintained to reduce non-compliance related costs.

Qualifications and competencies

    Bachelor’s degree preferably in business Management or equivalent
    5 years relevant working experience in Banking.
    Thorough knowledge of central processing.
    Interpersonal, communication, listening, planning and negotiation skills.
    Ability to handle customer complaints.
    Problem solving and extensive computer knowledge.
    Technical report writing.

Relationship Officer, Retail and SME

Overall Purpose

The position is responsible for business & product performance analysis, SME market analysis and product development/improvement in the same market.

The position is also responsible for driving and delivering excellent business performance through aggressive marketing of Bank products to corporate clients, through value chain management; while managing and maintaining their relationship.

Key Responsibilities
    Business and product performance analysis.
    Aggressive marketing for new MOU’s with corporate clients on behalf of the Branches for Retail Business.
    Linking the branches to the corporate Retail Business after MOU’s establishments.
    Conduct SME &Retail Market surveys.
    Spear head product review and new product development in line with emerging customer needs.
    Support branch Managers in managing and driving the SME/Retail Business TAT.
    Manage and Monitor the Direct Sales Performance across the Branch network.
    In liaison with the Business Development Officers review customer demands and recommendations and submit to management for auctioning where necessary.
    Manage relationships and maintain all relationships with the corporate clients with the MOU’s with the Bank.
    In liaison with Credit Admin, ensure timely disbursement of all facilities in the Retail & SME pipeline.
    Support Branch teams in Loan analysis.
    Effective monitoring of loan repayments and mitigating risks related to defaults and periodically reviewing the loan portfolio to manage likely problem products/branches.
    Ensures regulatory compliance and implementation of effective anti-money laundering procedures and controls.
    Keep abreast of new development in customer preference and advices management on relevant changes.
    Develop and manage personal loan targets as agreed.
    Manage customer relations under personal portfolio and ensure lasting relations are established with all clients.

Qualifications and competencies

    Bachelor’s degree preferably in business Management or equivalent
    4 years experience in banking especially Retail & SME Markets
    Good marketing and communications skills
    High proficiency in the use of M-S Office
    Understanding of Prudential guidelines on KYC
    Analytical skills.
