Deputy Chief of Party / Technical Director

Job Summary:
The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP)/Technical Director will assist the Chief of Party (COP) with all responsibilities and activities, including development and implementation of the vision, strategy, and technical
direction of a public health project in Kenya.

S/he will support the COP with oversight and implementation of the project, including monitoring the budget/spending, management of the schedule/deadlines, management of partners and drafting of required reports.

The DCOP will assist the COP in creating and maintaining good working relationships with all partners, including the funder, government counterparts, local organizations, and program partners.

Minimum Requirement

    BS/BA in public health, or related field with 9-11 years of relevant experience with at least 5-7 years of senior-level project management experience, preferably in Kenya or East Africa or Master’s degree in public health, business administration or related field with 7-9 years experience with at least 3-5 years of senior-level experience in coordinating public health development efforts.
    Experience managing US government funded projects in developing countries with sub awards to local partners preferred.
    Experience living and working in Kenya preferred; Kenyan nationals are encouraged to apply.
    Demonstrated ability to think strategically, lead teams, and navigate politically-sensitive terrain.
    Familiarity with US government programming, rules and regulations.
    Experience working with an international non-governmental organization (NGO) preferred.
    Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
