Job Title: Project Engineer - Water Sanitation and Hygiene Program
 Department: Caritas / Development and Social Services Department

Reports To: Development Coordinator

Job Purpose

The WASH Project Engineer will be responsible for providing technical skills required in the implementation of WASH projects in the Diocese of Isiolo.

She/he will also ensure effective and timely implementation of the project activities as well as coordinate reporting and documentation.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
    The project Engineer will oversee the implementation of various CARITAS supported WASH projects in conformance with both CARITAS and government requirements.
    Coordinate technical studies which include feasibility studies, baseline surveys, evaluations, water quality
testing and environmental studies among others.
    Design of water and sanitation facilities.
    Prepare tender documents and bills of quantities.
    Supervise construction of water and sanitation facilities.
    Conduct water quality testing and monitoring.
    Coordinate community training on operation and maintenance.
    Organize quarterly progress reporting.
    Coordinate the documentation and dissemination of lesson learnt, best practices and success stories from the projects.
    Represent the Caritas WASH program in district planning forums and sectoral meetings with the government such as Water and Environmental Sanitation Coordination (WESCOORD) meetings.
    Participate in meetings with other project staff and other stakeholders working in the region.

Qualifications:
    Bachelors degree in Engineering, preferably in Water Engineering
    Knowledge of Participatory Development methodologies as well as GoK policies on Water and Irrigation, and Environmental Health and Sanitation
    Experience: a minimum of 2 years experience working on community based water and sanitation projects in NGO setting. Demonstrated ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training
    Emotional maturity, ability to work with minimum supervision, team leader and player.
