Our client, a medium sized manufacturing and service company in Thika would like to recruit a Human Resource Officer.

Main purpose of the job: Reporting to the Managing Director the suitable candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating human resources activities and staff of the company.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
•    Undertake all duties related to the recruitment and selection function including conducting orientation for newly appointed staff to foster positive attitude towards the organizational objectives.
•    Ensure compliance with legal requirements in line with the existing employment act of Kenya.•    Undertake administrative duties supporting various HR processes including maternity and paternity leave and other forms of special leave; job evaluation panels; probation procedure; other terms and conditions of employment.      
•    Revise/ update existing HR policies and procedures based on arising needs, sensitize staff and facilitate the implementation.
•     Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, labour relations and employee relations.
•     Undertake duties supporting the organization’s learning and development plan
•    Carry out administrative duties to support the Managing Director in the delivery of a health and safety environment in the organization.
•    Any other duties assigned by Managing Director.

Requirements:
•    A minimum of a Diploma  in Human resource Management
•    At least 3 years experience handling Human resource functions.
•    Must have worked in a manufacturing set up in a busy HR department.
•    Must have an understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
•    Must possess skills in job descriptions, performance review methods and techniques, staff training, development and recognition, delegation, mentoring and coaching
•    Well organized, accurate and attentive to detail
•    Excellent communications and public relations abilities.
