Job summary

The Resort Manager oversees all aspects of the resort operations including: guest relations, front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, finances, team building, and staff development. He must possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and demonstrate outstanding leadership.

The RM must be able to delegate responsibilities, organize complex projects, and establish priorities
consistent with hotel objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities
•    Responsible for overall management and operations of the resort
•    Executes marketing, sales, and operational activities, producing results that meet or exceed the hotel’s business plan.
•    Ensures good safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures.
•    Establishes and maintains applicable preventive maintenance programs to protect the physical assets of the hotel.
•    Implements and maintains effective open-door communication system that crosses departmental lines in order to reach all employees.
•    Understands the government regulations affecting hotel’s operations, ensuring hotel is operated in compliance with all applicable laws, ordinances, regulations, and requirements of the Kenyan Law.
•    Manage, train and motivate resort management team and staff.
•    Comply with all procedures and standards as set out in the staff manuals.
•    Ensure excellent communication between resort management team, and with resort staff.
•    He or she has to ensure health and hygiene standards are met.
•    Maintain a high profile and standards within the resort.
•    He or she has the responsibility to have regular positive contact with guests throughout their stay.
•    He or she is responsible for organizing management team duties and rotas.
•    The duty is to monitor overall resort expenditure and completing weekly accounts.
•    It will be the responsibility to arrange and conduct weekly meetings with staff and with resort management team.
•    The manager also has the duty to carrying out disciplinary procedures when necessary and supervision of staff accommodation to ensure standards are being adhered to.
•    Supervising the maintenance, renovations and furnishings of the hotel.
•    Establishes and maintains a pro-active human resource function to ensure employee motivation, training and development, wage and benefits administration, and compliance with established labor regulations.
•    Maintains an appropriate level of community public affairs involvement.

Skills and Specifications
The required skills and specifications are as follows:
•    Good command of spoken and written English
•    Hospitality and customer service experience essential
•    Management and supervisory skills essential
•    Accounts experience desirable
•    Knowledge of catering operations desirable
•    Full clean driving license desirable
•    The person must have the team working skills to do the job.
•    He or she should be able to work professionally and flexibly.
•    Should be personable with an outgoing character and hardworking.
•    Excellent numeric, administrative and organizational skills.

Education and Qualifications
•    Bachelor’s degree in business management
•    Ms Office suit
